How AWTP Works

What makes AfterWork Theater Project unlike any other theater program in the world is that it was designed with the performers’ experience in mind.  In order to accomplish this we took into account your busy work schedules, fear of auditions, a commitment to quality productions, etc.  Here is what we’ve come up with:

Schedule

The basic rehearsal schedule for AWTP includes nine weeks of rehearsal, one week of tech, one week of performances, and of course, the cast party. Rehearsals are generally held Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6:30pm-10:30pm and Saturday mornings from 10am-2pm.  Most cast members won’t be needed for all rehearsals but this is the basic schedule.

Those of you who know your schedules won’t allow you to rehearse three times per week can indicate that you have “Limited Rehearsal Availability” (LRA) on your registration forms. From there we will work with you to  to create a custom rehearsal schedule that works for you.

Cast I & II

We are determined to extend this opportunity to as many people as possible.  That’s why we’re creating two separate casts for our production of RENT.  If a last minute conflict prevents someone from attending a critical rehearsal or even a performance their alternate will be prepared to go on in their place.

The Casting Process

Although there are fifty roles in RENT (twenty-five roles in each of the two casts), only the first FORTY paid registrants are guaranteed casting, as determined by a company assessment held on launch day in March.  Some will be cast in lead roles while others will be cast in smaller roles or ensemble.  Once we’ve gotten to know our forty participants, we’ll open up auditions to a waiting list of people who didn’t register in time as well as those who are only interested in performing specific roles.   This enables us to reserve ten roles with specific casting requirements to ensure we have the right mix for the show.

Tuition

Tuition for participating in an AWTP Production is $495.  We can accept a $200 deposit to hold your spot at the time of registration. Please note you will automatically be charged the $295 balance prior to launch day.  Otherwise, tuition can be paid up front in total.  Tuition is the same for all participants regardless of LRT or role.

Crew-ners

Our Crew-ner program is currently unavailable.
